Teaching Fields: Nonverbal Communication, Debate, Media Studies

Dr. Michael Eaves has served as a Professor at Valdosta State University since 1993. A dedicated educator and mentor, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the Department of Communication Arts through his teaching, research, and service.

As the university’s Debate Coach, Dr. Eaves has led the VSU Debate Team for over three decades, developing a nationally respected program known for its academic rigor, sportsmanship, and success in competition. Under his guidance, students have earned numerous awards while cultivating the analytical and persuasive skills essential for professional and civic life.

Dr. Eaves continues to inspire students to think critically, argue ethically, and communicate effectively—hallmarks of his long and impactful career at Valdosta State University.
