James “Jim” Reiman is a photographer, designer, educator, and the creator and host of the Focus Stacked podcast. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography and Graphic Design at Valdosta State University.
His personal photographic work investigates themes of identity transformation, masculine iconography, and pop culture. Alongside his fine art practice, Reiman collaborates with a wide range of commercial clients—including professional wrestlers, actors, models, cosplayers, filmmakers, and brands—offering photography, video, and design services.
Reiman is knowledgeable in a wide range of photographic and video techniques, as well as a variety of traditional art approaches and innovative technologies, bringing both technical expertise and creative versatility to his practice.
He holds a BFA in Photography and Digital Imaging from Central Washington University (2005) and an MFA from the University of South Florida (2009).
Reiman has taught photography, design, foundations, and video courses at the University of South Florida, The Art Institute of Tampa, Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, and Red Rocks Community College. He has also served as a visiting educator at various arts and cultural institutions, including the Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, and the Ruskin Firehouse Cultural Center.
A committed advocate for the creative community, Reiman has served on multiple high school and community college advisory boards, as well as on the boards of professional organizations including ASMP Colorado and AIGA Colorado. He is also an active member of the Society for Photographic Education.
