Dr. Han Chen’s scholarship centers on improving health behaviors in youth, with a focus on physical activity, health-related fitness, and body composition. He specializes in quantitative methods and large-scale data analysis to address applied questions in physical activity and health, and evaluates technology-supported interventions such as mobile health and gamification in real-world settings. He is also interested in developing and testing school-based strategies to increase children’s and adolescents’ physical activity and fitness. Dr. Chen has published 20+ peer-reviewed articles, presented at national and international conferences, serves on the editorial board of Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD) and Journal of Teaching, Research, and Media in Kinesiology, and reviews for multiple journals. With roughly two decades of university teaching, he emphasizes practice-ready, evidence-based learning for future teachers and coaches.
